Privacy & Dignity

At Renovo we recognise that privacy and dignity are extremely important to patients who come to us for care and treatment

Privacy refers to freedom from intrusion and relates to all information that is personal or sensitive in nature to an individual. Dignity can be defined as being worthy of respect.

We take person-centred care very seriously and ensure that all our staff treat patients’ needs and information sensitively and that their values and personal beliefs are taken into consideration. This approach applies to every patient, whatever their age, sex, race, cultural background or healthcare needs.

We also understand the importance of providing surroundings that protect privacy and dignity and in support of this, we provide single room accommodation with a private bathroom to all patients.

We expect our staff to respect patients’ rights to privacy and dignity and we work hard to foster this culture across our organisation by delivering mandatory Dignity in Care training to all our clinical staff.

Our approach to privacy and dignity is based on the following principles:

  • Having a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of abuse
  • Supporting people with the same respect you would want for yourself or a member of your family
  • Treating each person as an individual by offering a personalised service
  • Enabling people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control
  • Listening and helping people to express their needs and wants
  • Respecting people’s right to privacy
  • Ensuring people feel able to complain without fear of retribution
  • Engaging with family members and carers as care partners
  • Assisting people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem
  • Acting to alleviate people’s loneliness and isolation
