Dr Matthew Debenham

About

Dr Matthew Debenham has worked as a consultant psychiatrist at the Hollanden Park Hospital since April 2000. He has acted as Responsible Officer since 2011 with clinical responsibility for patients on the Special Care Unit (SCU) and offers psychiatric consultation to all the units at the hospital.

Alongside this, Matthew also works for the local NHS mental health trust where he is currently a consultant working with younger adult inpatients. During his time as an NHS consultant he has been Associate Medical Director for acute mental health services with responsibility for psychiatric liaison to Kent based acute general hospitals, crisis resolution and home treatment teams as well as acute inpatient services in Kent. He has also been Deputy Medical Director for operations and locality tutor with responsibility for medical education.

Matthew initially trained at the London Hospital Medical College and graduated in 1989. After subsequent training as a GP he also began training in psychiatry and become a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1996.  After a period of specialist training on the South East Thames training rotation based at Guys Hospital, Matthew entered the specialist register in 2000.
